About the project:

The client has a training course in PDF and PPT format that need to be translated and localized into simplified Chinese. It is an introduction for a new kind of business intelligence software that can make life easier for business analysts and BI developers and it can let you know how to make faster, smarter decisions.

Challenges:

Within the limited time, we should successfully complete the large volume files translations with high quality and keep consistent throughout the files and follow and translation memory the client provided.
As it is the first time of cooperation with the client, there are lots of things that should be communicated and negotiated.
After the translation being done, how to finish the typesetting using FrameMaker with high efficiency?

Solutions:

1. After getting the Framemaker files in .fm format, we converted them to .mif files which can be imported to Trados Studio. And then we create a Trados project and add the Translation Memory the client provided and a Termbase.

2. CCJK has a strong team of translators, editors, proofreaders and DTP typesetting engineers involved in the project. We take quality seriously and choose the most skilled translators with the knowledge in the field of business intelligence.

We are proud to say that we have taken our commitment to quality a step further. That is we translate from scratch by a linguist, then pass the translated documents to another editor for reviewing, and finally to a 3rd proofreader for polishing.

3. In the process of translation, we have some queries about the source texts; we always remember to record it in our query sheet and reported to the client for suggestions and answers.

4. Our DTP team gets the translated files and then makes a guideline to keep the whole training materials uniform. As a few of the DTP engineer doing the typesetting, it is more efficiency and the final version finished within the limited time with high quality.
