Survey Translation and Creating

About the project:
The Client has created a survey for Chinese parents in mainland which is written in English. The survey needs to be translated into Mandarin and created on the Survey Monkey website. The client also provides a Survey Monkey account for us to create the Mandarin Chinese survey after the translation being finished.

The client has the following requirements for Contractors:
1. Experience translating research, marketing, or academic written content from English to Mandarin.

2. Experience using the Survey Monkey website.

3. Ability to read a MS Word document.

4. Ability to access the Survey Monkey website.

5. Fluent in written English and Mandarin.

Our solution:
After seeing this project posted, we have a detail analysis of the client’s requirements and submit our competitive proposal. As the client needs a brief paragraph explaining the process we will follow to complete the project, we browse the survey Monkey website and explained the process in detail.

The client has a English survey exist in the website, but it is from an different account, so we cannot copy this existing English survey. All of the work needs to be started from scratch. We first translate the current survey and then create the survey in Mandarin.

For survey translation:
This survey is target at a mother or father of a child 4-10 years old, so we assigned the translation job to our translators who have been a mother or father, they have the knowledge of the methodologies that the client needs.

We assigned at least 3 linguists to the project: we translate from scratch by a linguist, then pass the translated documents to another editor for reviewing, and finally to a 3rd proofreader for polishing.

For survey creating:
The Chinese survey needs to be created in the survey monkey; we added the questions one by one according to the client requirements. After we finished, the client wants to modify some places, we read it through and even point out some places that also need to be updated due to the client’s changes, so it is detail oriented, and the client speak highly of it.

About client:
The client is a doctoral learner at Capella University in the School of Education. She wants to examine the perceptions contemporary Chinese parents have of Western-style versus traditional Chinese teachers and teaching methodologies. So she want to invited the Chinese parent to a child between the ages of 4 and 10 years old to participate the survey.
